After such a long time, we finally have our first real look at Stranger Things season 5. The teaser starts off with this emotional scene between mother and son as Joyce tells Will Buyers that she remembers the night that changed everything.
Is there a trailer for Stranger Things season 5?
November 6th, 1983. Stranger Things 5 will bring the series to full circle and place Will Buyers at the forefront of the story as we finally unravel the mysteries of the upside down. Our next few shots from season 5 after watching stock footage from previous seasons are Joyce Buyers protecting the gang inside of what appears to be a farm.
We can vaguely make out the silhouettes of Mike and Will to the left and Robin Buckley to the right. Set photos and behind-the-scenes clips have shown to us that Joyce and Robin might be teaming up, so this could be a follow-up of that. We also know from the production last year that they were filming at the McCaul Farm, a setting the show hasn’t revisited since season 2 when Hopper was investigating rotten pumpkins.
T Stranger Things 5 Release Date Has Been Revealed
As for why our gang is here, your guess is as good as mine. We can also see one more person up here, but they are so blurred out it’s hard to identify them. Then there’s this shot of Holly and Karen Wheeler in what appears to be Holly’s bedroom. The youngest member of the Wheeler family will have a significant role in Stranger Things 5.
So significant that they recast the Price twins with Nell Fischer. You might remember that the second episode was blurred out to keep the name a secret, but we can officially
announce right here. And now that the complete title is the vanishing of Holly Wheeler thanks to spoilers and leaks, this shot could be from a scene that happens in the Wheeler house right before Holly vanishes in the first or second episode of season 5.
Then we have the one and only shot of Max Mayfield and Lucas Sinclair. Just like we speculated in our teaser trailer video, the only shot of Max we were ever going to get is that she was going to be in a hospital bed still in her coma. They’re keeping her storyline completely hidden.
Stranger Things 5: Everything You Need to Know
Even set leaks last year could not figure out the size of her role or what it entails. It’s nice to see that Lucas visits her after so long, and they still have the movie theater drawing in the background next to the bed. Very cute. We also have a lingering overhead shot of Dustin and Steve, our favorite duo from the series. We can see that Dustin still has facial injuries, likely from the beatdown he received from the high school jocks, Eddity Mson’s gravestone. This was something seen in the featurette from last year in mid July. Then there’s this worrying look at Eleven as she is screaming in pain with Hopper trying to comfort her.
It is immediately followed by the most interesting clip of the teaser. The two of them in front of gigantic love a craftion vines. There are a few theories as to what’s going on here. The most likely one is that this is literally the edge of the upside down which would pretty much confirm it was indeed created as a limited snapshot of the world above.
Another possibility is that this is an upside down infected cave-like environment. Basically a bigger version of the tunnels from season 2. The Duffers have already confirmed they’re revisiting some of the big ideas that didn’t make it to that season, and this may be one of them. We can barely see some trees in the background, so I wonder if this is simply the limits of the alternate dimension.
Stranger Things’ Season 5 Gets Three Reels That
There was also the shot of 11 and Hopper that was released on the website, not seen anywhere in the teaser. The two of them are inside the WSQ. And this is something we know for a fact because a photo similar to this one was leaked out to the public in February alongside other spoiler content. Then we have this shot of Mike with several new characters and Joyce holding Will right behind them. Did Will Buyers just use abilities in this clip? He looks an awful lot like Eleven when she feels tired from overusing her powers. Or maybe he’s feeling the same side effects of sensing the mind flare near him.
As for who these new characters are, we know that the kid with the glasses is named Derek. He seems to be the new side character that could very well become the next Eddie and Alexa. So, we know how that’s going to end. As for these two other characters, there are no clues or information given out about them, but word on the street is that the girl to the left is named Debbie. Some fans immediately thought it was Suzie because they look similar, but this is not the one
