It’s a $2.99 a month streaming service and it’s address. So this has launched today, Tuesday, August 5th, 2025. So it just came out today, brand new and it is available immediately on the Roku platform. So they’re saying it’s priced at less than a cup of coffee. Howdy is adore and designed to complement not compete with premium services said Roku founder and CEO Anthony Woods.
So it is now available. You got $2.99 a month, no ads, and you have entertainment from partners like Lionsgate, Warner Brothers Discovery, and Film Rise. In addition to select Roku originals and initial titles in the library include Mad Max, Fury Road, The Blind Side, Weeds, and Kids in the Hall, among others. So, you can check it out on the homepage. Once you go to your Roku homepage, you should see something about Howdy. They are promoting it, of course, being brand new.

They said it was set to launch today in the US only. Now, this joins the company’s Roku channel, which includes ads on a large library of content as well as Roku originals and was the most popular fast service in June according to the Nevelson gauge. So, that’s great for Roku. the most popular fast platform in June of this year. So that is something else. Now the launch of the platform also follows Roku’s acquisition of paid streaming service friendly TV in May. Roku has a large potential reach for these services after hitting 90 million households earlier this year.
So the platform continues to grow. They’re branching out more and more. They’re making more and more ad revenue from the Roku channels. So now they have this service which is $2.99 if you’re tired of ads. You get quite a few movies to choose from at launch here. So 10,000 hours of entertainment. So they’re very excited, of course, which makes sense. Now you have some big names as well as far as where the entertainment comes from. So let’s go look at the actual Roku howdy page.

So you can subscribe right here. It says subscribe now. Look at these um titles here. You have a few different ones that go through here to scroll through. So just a few there. And you now have reasons to subscribe. They have those of course always or almost everything you want to watch. Always add free.
That is only $2.99. Come for the thrills, stay for the lower bills. I like that one. Right. No commitments. Cancel anytime or enjoy it all the time. So feel good movie nights, you have those as well. So really nice here to offer this option should you want to go ad free. More flexibility again with streaming. And this is what we’re seeing more and more of. You have the new app now from Fox One that was uh launched. It’s launching soon. We did a video on that earlier today. You also have the ESPN unlimited app. So for sports, you have those apps. You’re just seeing more and more direct to consumer options.

And that’s what we want to see, right? More flexibility. You could get what you want. Don’t pay for stuff you don’t want. That’s what it’s all about.
