Slurp Heads Dr. Freaking Doom is officially in the MCU. This is going to be fun. Yeah, that’s right. Robert Downey Jr.’s armor-plated menace is officially stomping his way onto the big screen and casually letting Franklin touch his unmasked face. What is going on? This might just be Marvel’s most loaded postedit scene since Thanes first turned and smirked. Sure, there’s a fun little animated Easter egg after the credits, but let’s not kid ourselves. We are all here for this. So, buckle up. We’re breaking down the entire scene. Doom’s cryptic arrival, Franklin’s terrifying potential, and what this all means heading into Avengers Doomsday. Let’s get to it. Okay, before we open the doom gate real quick, here’s what went down in Fantastic 4 first steps.
We’re on Earth 82A, a retro futuristic universe where Marvel’s first family has become heroes for 4 years. Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby, Sue Storm, Joseph Quint, Johnny, and Ben Grim are already established. The film kicks off with a baby announcement and then immediately hits Deacon 5 when a female Silver Surfer Charlotte Bull arrives to warn Earth, Galactosa is coming.

Then they rock it off to confront Galactosa. And I just loved how comic accurate he was. It was terrifying, especially after what we got the last time they tried to do this. It was amazing. Galactosa actually offers them a horrific deal. give up their unborn child, Franklin, and he’ll spare the planet. Of course, they say, “Hell no.” They escape. Sue gives birth early on the ship, and once they’re back on Earth, the plan becomes move the entire freaking planet. Not kidding here. Reed uses the future foundation to build teleportation portals across the globe. Yeah, it all builds up perfectly to such an intense and a pretty dark final act. Glaucus tries to steal baby Franklin .
And Sue sacrifices herself to push him through a portal. And then the Silver Surfer finally redeems herself, flying into the void with Galactosa to banish him. Sue dies, but Franklin brings her back to life. Yeah, Franklin is going to be a very, very important character moving forward. And if this scene showing off these powers didn’t show you that, then maybe, just maybe, the postedit scene will. Let’s get to it. Okay, so now we do a little time jump. Four years snowstorm is reading a bedtime story for her now four-year-old son Franklin, who by the way is casually reading the origin of species for fun. This kid brain is already a cosmic threat. She leaves the room,

then the tone shifts hard. A cloaked figure silly appears in the iconic Baxter building. Greenhouse, he kneels beside Franklin and in the man’s hand, Dr. Doom silver mask. Oh yes, he is here. But before anything can happen, cut to black. Boom. The Fantastic 4 will return in Avengers Doomsday. So, let’s talk about it. This wasn’t just a cameo. This is Marvel setting up Doom’s mission. It’s a statement. And this scene is packed with a lot. First, we’ve got to talk about him touching his freaking face.
Letting Franklin touch his unmasked face, that is huge because in the comics, Doom’s obsession with fixing his face is legendary. It’s tied to his vanity, his pain, his pride, and Franklin may have actually just healed him in that moment. Or at least Doom believes he could in the future. This twist reflects Doom’s comic history. He’s kidnapped Franklin before. boys tried to sacrifice him to Mist to resurrect his mother. He manipulates. He schemes. He obsesses over power. And Franklin is cosmic scale power incarnate. And yeah, let’s dive a little bit deeper into Franklin.
Post-credits scene from Fantastic Four: Horse Lake
In the comics, this kid is an Omega level mutant who creates an entire universes with just a fool. He’s resurrected Galactic, obliterated Mist, and created pocket realities for the Avengers. And in and in this movie, he revived his mother as a newborn. At the age of four, he’s showing signs of hyper intelligence and potential multiverse awareness. If Doom understands this, or worse, he plans to use this. The world might be, I don’t know, doomed. Sorry. Sorry about that. I had to do it. [Music] So, let’s talk about Avengers Doomsday. So, we think this takes place across multiple universes, right?
Earth 828, Earth 616, potentially even Earth 3 A3. Yes, the big crossover is coming. And even though it does kind of feel rushed, I do think the MCU does have an opportunity here to make Doom’s motivation feel pretty nuanced. There’s a theory that I’ve been seeing and I love. Doom isn’t conquering out of greed. He’s cleaning up what Kang broke. He He’s seen what the Kang variants did. the incursions, the broken timelines.

Doom sees himself as a fixer. He wants to prune the rock, rebuild reality from scratch. But to do that, he needs power. Franklin’s power and cleaning the multiverse. That might mean erasing universes, sacrificing worlds, wielding Franklin like a cosmic nuke. He would feel justified in what he’s doing. And you know what? Those are always the scariest villains.
