The border clash between Thailand and Cambodia has now entered the third day with over 30 people dead in both countries. Amidst the escalating conflict, Malaysian Prime Minister Amour Ibrahim has urged Thailand and Cambodia to halt the fighting, adding that the Malaysian Foreign Ministry will continue engaging with both sides to bring calm along the borders. Now, according to Cambodian authorities, five soldiers and eight civilians have so far been killed on the Cambodian side. Thai authorities say 13 civilians and seven soldiers have been killed on their side.
Cambodia has called for the international community to condemn Thailand’s aggression and to prevent an expansion of Thailand’s military activities. The Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Cambodia appeals to the international community, including the United Nations Security Council, the Azan Community, and all relevant international partners to condemn Thailand’s invasion of Cambodia. As a conflict escalates, Cambodian military vehicles were seen driving near the Thai border.
Death toll in Thailand-Cambodia border clashes hits 32
Military trucks carrying objects covered by tapeline and guarded by soldiers were seen moving down a road with some parts of the road blocked by a truck. Cambodia has accused the Thai Navy of making aggressive maneuvers by allegedly deploying eight ships near its coastal province of Kong. Speaking at a news conference, a Cambodian defense ministry spokesperson also refuted Thai claims that Cambodia started the attacks and insisted that Cambodia was the victim.in Korong province at 11:00 a.m. 0400 GMT on July 26th.

The conflict has forced more than 138,000 people to be evacuated from Thailand’s border regions with more than 35,000 driven from their homes in Cambodia. Uh, Cambodia says that they are the victims and Thailand is the aggressor. They’re calling on Thailand to ease up or calm down. What do you think is the problem and what is Thailand saying? Well, I think the problem is there are two narratives to this story. Obviously,
the government of Cambodia has one narrative and the government of Thailand has another narrative. Uh may I offer just some fact on the ground of what happened? The incident started on the morning of July 24 when first missiles from Cambodia targeted civilian targets in Thailand including hospitals, communities and homes and resulted in about 12 or 13 Thai civilian deaths. Now those are the facts of what happened. And after that incident, Thailand then retaliated with an air strike on Cambodian military targets. Mhm. And then things just escalated from there.
Cambodia-Thailand Border Clashes: Urgent Private Meeting
So when I was watching your show earlier in which the government spokesperson of Cambodia was saying that Thailand has invaded Cambodia, that is simply not true. That Thailand is the aggressor. That is simply not true. But of course that is the narrative that being peddled by the Cambodian government and a lot of people seem to have picked up on it. Mhm. Let me ask you this. Uh what can deescalate the situation because we see that Malaysia has offered to broker some uh ceasefire talks between Cambodia and Thailand. Do you think that will work or what can bring a sense of uh calm or harmony between the two countries?
Well, there definitely has to be a mediation from a third party because at this point in palm, um, if we look at the two conflicting parties, and I’m not saying the two conflicting parties is Thailand versus Cambodia, it isn’t. It’s very much Unnunned and his family versus Thailand. Now, the issue here is that Unseen and his family cannot back down. is a big loss of faith. He was the one doing the saber rattling for months. He was the one that’s been agitating this conflict for months and he was the one that authorized the attacks on Thailand Thai civilians on the morning of July 24. So he cannot just back down and receive nothing. On the other hand, Thailand cannot just back down
